The Man Who Never Says I'm Sorry

Good Monday morning, Friends,

It's amazing to see so many honorable people biting their tongues over and over again to maintain blind loyalty to their party, knowing full well they're backing a modern-day fascist who's hijacked the GOP from them and is playing them so cynically.

Instead of apologizing for his remarks, Donald Trump has the audacity to stand by his racist quip directed at a Gold Star American Muslim family. In fact, he has the chutzpah to claim that they are the ones viciously attacking him.

Dear Donald Trump, I am the Gold Star, and I represent the families
who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect twerps like you.
Disrespect  me at your own peril.
Trump just doesn't get how offensive it was when he said that grieving mother, Ghazala Khan, stayed silent while her husband spoke because her Muslim faith probably didn't allow her to speak.

This was completely untrue, and demonstrated his ignorance. Mrs. Khan was simply still too emotional to give a public address about her son's death.

Sure, patriarch of the family Khizr Khan did slam Trump's 'Muslim ban' from the podium of the Democratic convention. But he simply said that under Trump his son, who gave his life to save his fellow soldiers, would have been barred from even being in this country.

Now,  according to Reuters, 23 Gold Star families are demanding an apology from Trump, but he won't back down.

Gold Star families--those who've sacrificed an immediate family member in battle--have always been off limits to political discourse.

Trump's refusal to show any remorse or humility, ever, is a serious character flaw that has finally started getting even his fellow Republicans unnerved.

And The Donald's very thin skin has kept this issue in the news cycle for nearly five days, when it would have lasted less than a day and disappeared if he had just let Khan's original speech slide by.

Instead, he turned it into a major gaffe with traction that won't just evaporate without Trump flinching first.

Without giving the Khan family an acceptable response, Trump is digging a hole for himself that will deepen until he can't emerge from it.

The latest polls are now starting to reflect it.
